About The views from the Yokohama Tower are really wonderful. I'm not sure if that's vignetting in the sky, or perhaps the influence of the rather thick glass I was taking the shots through. It doesn't seem to have affected the legendary sharpness of my old Pentacon lens! I'm scanning these myself on my new Epson F3200 film scanner.

Nice View Roger! Is that your massive shadow there on the trees? ;-)

Hey Rog, long time.
Not sure if the noise in this shot is from the 800ISO film or the scanner. In PSP you could select the sky area and run a slight gassian blur to smooth out the sky. Clarity of the forground is wonderfully detailed.

Like the composition of this shot

It is one of the best lenses ever made in E.Germany, Antonella, but it has some disadvantages. Purely manual, no auto mode, so only stopped-down metering, which is hard to take. Also rather slow (F/3.5) and as far as I know only ever made in M42 mount. But my Bessaflex camera has an M42 mount... no problem. And as you say, sharpness and color rendering are excellent. The very slight fuzziness near the edges is a side-effect of my correction of verticals which was necessary to stop the bridge looking as if it was falling over. The original was sharp corner to corner.

Yes, this lens is superb....next time I go to a market I will see to find one. Which mount does it have? Color rendition is excellent and so is sharpness.
Great work on your new scanner!!!! Congratualtions!!!

I am looking forward to your experience with the F3200 and either positive or negative film. The time it takes to scan and the ability to adjust in realtime the parameters.
I tried a Nikon Coolscan V with positive film and found it a very tedious and irritatin irratative process to get something usefull. Let me know in a monthe or so, please.

I liek this wide angel shot very much and I do see the vignet. Maybe indeed the glass of the window. Reards, Rob.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Neil. I presume this is the one where I pointed out the inconsistency over "Articles"? I must have hit a nerve... Anyway, for the time being your comment (which was sufficiently non-specific to avoid the net) still survives. Perhaps this one won't!

Hi Roger, sorry this is not really a comment on this photo but a "pat on the back" for your continued perseverance to make this site better. I read your post before! Courageous... and yes it didn't last long before it got removed (maybe this comment will :)), in fact it got removed before i had a chance to say i agree with you. Funnily eneough it got removed just as all the photos came back on the front page, of course without any explanation as to why they wern't there in the first place. Still as i said i admire your will to change things. I, like many others have long since given up. Best wishes Neil

Fantastic view Roger, it looks like they're using every bit of real estate here. It's amazing what you got into this frame, a very nice look. The vignetting which is very slight, I think, adds a nice natural framing to the image...Thanks for another look...:):)Linda
