About I am trying to break out of myself. Does that make sense to you? I want to expand the shots that I can take, to explore my creativity, expand my powers of observation for the interesting. This is trying something different than the 'usual' shot for me.

The nature refuge that I frequent has bluebird nesting boxes. They are along the trail leading into the refuge. I always peek in as I go by. Some kind of sparrow also nests in these boxes and builds the most incredible nests. The major component of these nests is feathers. Feathers of all colors and shapes. I can't imagine where these little sparrows get so many feathers. There aren't any chicken or turkey farms nearby, but a very very cozy nest they make from feathers. Anyway, a feather fell out onto the grass when I closed the box up. I tried it in a variety of poses in different places. This is on the leaf of a catalpa tree. It had just rained and I liked the effect.

I hope you enjoy it.

Very nice photo! I like how the feather picked up the green color. I read your bio and would sure like to hear your testimony! Sounds interesting, to say the least!
