Very splendid capture George. I meant to ask, of your various images, you shoot mostly on manuel settings, correct? Are you so sure of your exposures, or are you somehow using your camera or another light meter to determine all these expsores of the beautiful things you have here in your portfolio??

Rafi, you are absolutely right about the Singer brand. I looked at the original image, and it is exactly what I recalled and precisely as posted in the finished photo--not flipped. But, after further examination, I also noticed another anomaly--a sign that appears to be on the wall. It is also reversed. If this and the Singer logo are what they appear, then the only explanation I can find is that the original shot was of a reflection (in a mirror?)! My recollection of the moment of taking the picture (two shots, in fact, in rapid succession) is very clear, and those images from the memory card absolutely support that recall--The shot was taken through a plate glass window facing the sidewalk where I stood. If so, I can't for the life of me understand how the image could have come out the way it did, but there it is--a real mystery. Any other ideas?

Ok George. Thanks for the further information. I see what you mean. There's still something I don't understand and that's the name of the sewing machine, which is also written backwards. My parents had a Singer like the one in the photo and hence I recognize it.
I still maintain it's a very well observed and captured photo.

No, Rafi, the text on the pages in the window are positioned on the glass so they can be read from the inside of the room. We are seeing them from the outside--and therefore from the rear--where they appear reversed. The scene is exactly what I saw when I snapped the shutter. The only thing that is posted to be seen from the street is the photo at about 8 o'clock. That is a surprise. Check it out.

Excellent "window shopping", George. The tailor's concentration is very evident. Something, though, caught my eye: either this was taken via a mirror, or it was posted flipped horizontally. I write this because everything in the photo is written backwards. Not that it detract anything from the quality of the photo. Happened to me quite often. Just an obsevation.

I think shooting through the glass adds yet another element to the image. I like it. You can kind of relate the (imagined) messages of the backward decals to the tailor.

The pins look like flowers on the sewing machine. Like the sewing machine being so old to the modern convenience around him. Very humble and strong feeling. the level of his concentration makes it.
