Thanks for replying, Robert. At that shutter speed, there is almost zero risk of camera shake.
Perhaps the focus was not spot on. It's a difficult shot to take, and maybe a bit too close for the lens you were using.

Very nicely captured, Robert. Good composition and placement. A very nice (and polite!) butterfly.
The picture is a little soft. What were the shutter and aperture settings, if you don't mind me asking?

Fabulous composition: the arched ladder-like fern in a diagonal, and the harmonious curve of the top of the butterfly's wing, and his right antenna lined up with his body. Exciting combination of complimentary colors, excellent dof, and perfectly oof background ... quality photographic work Robert ...Gabi

I'm back the only thing that I think might have made this is little better is just a bit tighter crop...I would have taken some more off of the left side and across the top. Making sure to keep your nice diagonal in the fern...maybe 1 1/2 inches over on the left and 3/4 inches down from the top..I wouldn't remove it for that, just next time...you want to make sure he's off centered and also give him some head room...which you did nicely here...just a suggestion...:):)

This is wonderful, the clarity and composition are wonderful once again. He looks like he has a long climb, the fern kind of looks like a ladder...a perfect dof, oh my goodness!!! And I like the way the background is blurred bringing all of the attention to your wonderful butterfly, who is very handsome btw...very impressive work...kisses...:):)
