When the plains were being settled the land was covered with grass and there were no trees. The wind blows constantly on the plains and if the soil is disturbed it blows away. The government provided trees to the settlers to plant around their fields to help stop the erosion. So now you see trees along section lines breaking up the long expanses of prairie. Thanks for looking.
Nice shot, Larry. The plains are blessed with such great open space! It's a great oppourtunity to take pictures with open vistas and big skies. I admire these landscapes/skyscapes you have taken.
