Great capture, is that Bee Balm he is feeding on?
I know it has taken me all summer to get the one I just posted. They are everywhere but do not always like to pose. Wonderful Composition, Ceceilia

Hi Dave,
Once you find one of these that will stand still for you for a few seconds they are a lot of fun! I have the same camera as you and a couple of weeks ago I was trying the same thing around a feeder. I was using the multiple frame with around 1/500 shutter speed and the lowest F stop. So the trick is to get the silly bird in the right position for the correct focus. I figured if you get one out of 25 shots you are doing okay.
This is one of the good ones!
Andre

And what a great job you did. You got the focus right on. That eye is looking right at me. The blur of the wings clearly show what a rapid motion they have. This is an excellent photo. Del.

Your really did a very nice job. Well done Dave. Our birds have mostly all left for the south around here. Don.

Hi Guido, thanks for the comment! We only get one variety of hummingbird here, the ruby throat, and this is the female. On the west coast of Canada, there are also Rufus varieties, two of which I've posted earlier this year.

Hummingbirds are amazing, and you did a great job of capturing one. It is so hard to do, if I might say so myself. Congrats!

And a fine capture it is too. I like it that the wings are blurred. That's how they are supposed to be - moving so fast you can't see them. Nice work!

I saw a hummingbird just yesterday for the first time here, it was exciting to see, but he didn't sit still for a second, so I know this was not easy to do and you did it well...very nicely captured, beautiful reds and greens...well done...:):)

Great shot Dave!
Yup, it takes a lot of patience
to catch a hummer at a flower.
