Thanks Lee, I shoot 90 percent of the time in high grass areas, so I see them go down for the catch, but usually you can only see the birds head and I must wait for him to come up with or without his prey, Then I have to recompose and get the shot which puts him back in the air again. but I do have a few just striking the prey on dirt, but havent been able to get a real clear one. I think about that everytime im out watching them hunt....
Thanks again..

Do you ever get shots of them going in for the catch ?
I have tried but way to fast for me.

This is great Marcus,
Not only you are incredible capturing flying birds, but now you are also showing us their menu.
It's more difficult to get them when they have a prey because they just take off super fast and there is not much time to capture them.
Excellent double capture with amazing details.
Congratulations for this fantastic shot.

Cool Marcus! Little miceys are so cute, but such pests. I have a love/hate relationship with them for sure. This guy certainly loves them. Nice catch...focus and details are right on as usual. Good one!

Thanks Linda, Actually I have a few mouse shots with these raptors, but I always got bad feedback, like poor mouse etc.. LOL. so i have not posted many, but when I saw Rinys shot of the hawk eating the guts of a mouse I assumed it would be ok. NO NG for me LOL but I have sold to a few magazines.. Thanks linda your comments are always special to me...
Marcus.

Andre Denis Andre Denis   {K:66407} 10/18/2005
Marcus,
This one looks pretty pleased with himself after this catch. I never really thought of them gripping their prey like that before. The stereotype that most of us have in our head is the prey dangling from the talons. But this makes more sense.
