Eb - Interesting composition. I like the silhouettes of the background objects.

Eb - Nice composition. Contrast with the browns in the rotten log is perfect. You should try an even closer macro of the moss "leaves".

Eb - Pretty, serene setting. I like your shutter speed. It makes the water smooth and "soft".

Eb - Fantastic sharpness and details. Isn't it amazing that on that lens f16 still has a shallow DOF at the distance you must have shot from.

Eb - Nice contrast in blooms. The light background helps the subjects stand out.

Nice work. I like the "un-aware" composition.

Eb - Interesting set-up. The subtle green (lichens?) in the bark adds color to the neutral surface. The twin "peaks" in the bark frame the shot. Nice work.

Eb - This looks like an infrared black and white shot. Really nice. You made a good choice for monochrome image.

Eb - I like the contrast between colors and tree bark. The only critique is you maybe could have included more of the sky - I like having some blue. Not a criticism.

Eb - You perfectly captured this beautiful landscape. I like the perspective. The greens show up well in both sun and shade. Nice exposure.

Eb - Beautiful setting and composition. You are correct...TC-17E is great and does not seem to degrade image visibly. Maybe your wife will let you break over and buy a 600mm f4?

Great shot. Your exposure is right on. When shoot into a clear sky, I have found that the subject is usually under exposed. Nice work.

I don't consider your lens options crappy. I have been toying with the idea of building a simple blind to get me closer to the wildlife without having to us my TC's. I also have looked at an aluminum framed "realtree camo" portable blind.

Good luck.

Gary - I almost bought the 300-800 about a year ago. Instead I bought a Nikon 400mm f2.8. In my "research", the only negative on the 300-800 was its' weight. Image quality was very good, AF speed was OK and lens construction is reported to be top notch. If you get one, you will need a very sturdy tripod and a gimbal head so you can easily swivel the whole assembly. You can look at reviews on this lens at fredmiranda.com.

Eb - Beautiful "serene" nature shot. Isn't is neat how colorful these birds are? Nice reflections.

A really professional shot. I also have a Bigma lens and find that its' versatility is nice. Good job.

Eb - An innovative shot with rustic textures and nice contrasts. How does the D300 compare to the D200?

Eb - Nice sharpness, reflections and composition. Just an idea - if you open up the aperture to say f5.6 and focus on the duck, the reflections will blend together nicely (just from my duck picture experience). It makes a muddled background.

Eb - Nice capture. I like the anticipation look of the people. Great sharpness at low shutter speed. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Eb - I think it is both. I usually set High ISO NR on for night sports (especially in poorly lit venues). I do think the focus was right on with this one. I did not do any post processing on this once.

Beautiful shot. Color is vivid and shadows nicely shown. DOF adds to the subjects.

Nice version. The change in shades of the piles under the pier is nicely depicted in a B & W photo. One criticism...Cannery name is cut off. Just a minor observation.

Eb - I like the B & W rendition of this. The tall grass provide a nice foreground of the picture. When is the D300 arriving? I have decided to start saving for the D3....will take quite some time, but based on its capabilities in high ISO's...I am really interested to have it for night sports.
