I like this photo, the lighting, composition, and definate mood. To my eye, it looks a little soft focussed to be "Maximum Depth of Field." Still, very nice photo.

I like this image. Good shutter speed to get the right "wispy" effect on the water. Not too much, not too little. Do you happen to know what the shutter speed was for this photo?

Very nice! Did the moon cover pretty much the full frame or is this cropped (other than the left and right sides)?

Great Shot! Love the bare tree surrounded by the autumn colors and the blue sky. Looks like the clouds were painted!

I thought the scene looked familiar. Living in the Seattle area, I've seen this scene more than once. Fog seems to be the order of the day us there. I like the photo. Good DOF and the symmetry of the trees on either side of the lake is very nice.

I really like this photo. I personally find the composition to be pleasing. I am most impressed with the detail in the "shadow" area (the trees) while not burning out the rest of the photo.
This photo inspires me to go out and try some black and white work at night.

John, it looks like it leans to the right to me, too.
I've shot a good number of waterfalls in the last year or two. Waterfalls are kind of funny in that some look good with extremely high shutter speeds, some with slower shutter speeds. My intent here was to take it to the extreme in the long exposure direction, smoothing out the ripples in the pool below the waterfall.
Thank you all for your comments. I appreciate your time and input.

Very dramatic. I love the colors. The low cloud in the center of the picture looks like it is hovering right over the trees. I really like this photo.

I really like this photo. Great exposure with detail in both the water and the clouds. Very nice composition with the rocks framing the sun.

I'm a sucker for sunsets/sunrises (depends which coast you are on, I supppose). Good colors, exposure. I like the blur in the water created by the longish exposure. The only thing I would suggest is zooming in a bit/cropping to eliminate the dark clouds at the top of the picture. The rocks in the foreground work for me.

Nice shot-Good timing. I love the expressions on the faces of the players. My only objection is that it feels a little cramped. The players are too close to the edge of the picture, especially the head of number 75.

John,
Initially, I was going to shoot this with black and white film. Given the constraints of not being able to get immediate feedback on my timing, I decided to go digital. It took about 4 shots to get my timing down with the person shooting the dart at the balloon.
I really like the way you modified the picture to black and white. When I posted the picture, I thought the balloon was an interesting part of the shot. Given your modification and the comment by Daniel Jarrett, I'm starting to think that it would be best to minimize/eliminate the balloon.
Thank you for your feedback. It gives me something to think about next time I set up to do a shot like this.

I love long exposures at night. This photo is well composed and well exposed. When shooting shots like this, I tend to stop way down and leave the shutter open for minutes or hours for a slightly different effect (especially in the light streaks caused by moving vehicles and even celestial bodies). Good Job!

I like this picture from composition point of view. Nice framing using the trees/bushes on either side of the bridge. What is going on with the trees in the background (above the bridge)? It seems unnatural for the background to go so out of focus when you have great DOF from the foreground to the bridge. Did you blur that digitally? Kind of distracting. I'd rather see the foreground out of focus and the background brought in clear.

Very nice! I like the use of light and the position of the subjects relative to each other.
I enjoy the irony of the project "Grainy Film for Effect" being shot with a digital camera.

I like the picture from a composition standpoint. I like the DOF with background going out of focus but have to echo the comments about the color--too much purple.

The use of the semi-fisheye lens curving the water makes it feel like we can see the end of the earth and really enhances how small the girl is compared to the ocean. In my job, I occasionally get the opportunity to fly high enough to see the earth's natural curvature. It really is a special feeling and this photograph reminds me of that.

Love this picture. I've looked at it several times and it makes me smile each time. I have to agree that the white snow is much better than the blue snow you had in the other shot.
I really like the action with the cats and the overall uniform lighting.
Keep up the good work.

Russ,
I really enjoy photos like this. It looks like you used existing light for this shot. The varying ball speeds are quite interesting.
I enjoy photos like this and longer exposures as well. I just "joined" this site and hope to upload some other photos along these lines soon.

I like the photo in terms of composition and subject. I always enjoy seeing everyday objects shown in unique ways.
There is also something about this picture that I can't put my finger on. Perhaps it's the fact that there is no obvious support for the ornament. Has any post processing been done on this photo?
I've enjoyed looking at your photos as they have given me ideas on what to shoot in my own "back yard."
