Cliff - Most of my pictures are just for fun. I figure every now and then I have to throw in one of the following: (1) grim reminder; or (2) sentimental BS. By doing so convinces everyone that I am not quite ready for being outfitted with a drool cup at the laughing factory. This one is close to my heart; lost too many friends or their loved ones to drunk drivers in the past years. I learned long ago to turn my keys over to someone else when I have had too much to drink! --Best to you, Jan

depressing and maddening at the same time. Anyone who took the time to read that will certainly think twice.

Thanks for commenting, Katy. The sticker does get your attention; there are various versions of this bumper sticker (garndparent, child, etc.) available from local US chapters of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). The US home page is www.madd.org but I am not sure if there is a UK equivalent. The handwritten sign on the back of the car was temporary, just for the few hours that the family was holding the candle light vigil at the location of the accident. --best to you, Jan

What an unusual monument to a deceased father, its quite moving but also puzzling because of the car sticker, im not sure how to take it. I guess it works tho coz its got me thinking...about a friend of mine who lost his father to an under-age driver. I certainly would have photographed this too if i had seen it! Katy

Agree and thanks for the comment. Happens every day as people get in their cars and drive without thinking about whether they ar fit to drive safely or not. --best regards, Jan

Laura-- This is a sad photo in so many ways. Like in your case, this family will feel the effects and be victims to the drunk driver that killed their son and father. Your Dad was a victim and so is your family. I can never get over how people can get behind the wheel drunk or drugged and do what they do: kill and maime. In the case of the Sullivan family (this photo) the woman that killed Mr. Sullivan never served time and received probation. She still drives in the area we live in. --Jan

Thank you for your comment. I prefer to get my animals from shelter and rescue. This is so sad. It reminds me of my father who survived a horrible accident from a drunk driver, only to take his own life 20 years later because of the long term pain resulting from that accident. Its so terrible that this ever happens. A poignant capture.

Angie-- Thanks for viewing and commenting. I too hope it helps and that people would consider the consequences before they get behind the wheel of a car while drunk or drugged. The loss to this family was a tragedy that could have been avoided. --Regards, Jan

How sad. :( I respect your decision not to post the family's pictures (I wouldn't either) but I think this is a nice documentary image to recognize their loss.

Thanks for your kind words. I spent some time with the family after i took this picture at their candlelight vigil, remembering their son and father. Although I took photos of them I felt it would be an intrusion to post any pictures of the family.
