About Coloured water pouring out of a bottle. I would prefer a solid background, but have not yet found a lighting setup that will remove the shadow.

Let me know how the twin lights works out.

I have a couple of remote flash units. I'll have to try something like this.

Inversion is a good thing (sometimes).

Hi James: Yes, two lights might work. And yes, the image is inverted.

Have you tried to light from two sides? Then the shadow would be halved and on each side. I think that would make it pretty close to uniform.

Your About says the colored water is pouring out? Does that mean this shot was inverted (turned 180 degrees)?

Hi Sam: I did try cloning out the shadow but found it very difficult to make the result look natural, especially around the "flames" at the top. Maybe there is a way, but I haven't found it yet!

WOW! Great idea, excellent, even I think it needs much more fast exposure here so you can have much more sharpness at the explouded water, really very nice, you must try that using a bit faster ISO (for example 800) and much more fast exposure like 1/1000 or even more. Try also to use a bright lens, it can helps you a lot. If you use flash, try to close it (cannot work with speeds faster than 1/500sec at your camera) and use the natural light of a bright day.
Be well!

Me gusta el efecto del agua en esta foto!
Perdona pero my espanol esta de muy mala salud desde que me vine a Irlanda.

I really like the effect of the water in this shot, I think it's a good capture. The range of effects you can achieve with water it's just endless.
