While my wife and I were walking alon Big Island's beach, I noticed this beautiful flower (Bird of Paradise). So, I decided to capture it on both Fujicolor Reala and Fujichrome Velvia. The image, as I expected, looked better on Velvia.
Hi Ian, Thanks for your comment. I chose f/8 to give the image the maximum resolution, as f/8 is usually produces the best definition that any lens can produce (see http://www.donaldmckay.com/mainSections/big-question.htm). This is, as mentioned, Velvia (a slide film), and a slide film produces richer colors (more saturated colors). In addition, the definition on Velvia is better than Reala for two reasons: 1)- it is a slide film 2)- the ISO is 50, while Reala's ISO is 100. In addition, the original image is brighter. For some reason when I upload my images they appear darker on this site.
beautiful flower and beautiful picture, but i think the background is too much of a distracion. is f8 the largest you couldve gone? also, i wouldve liked it closer and a little brighter. maybe a 1/2 stop over wouldve brought out the colors more. is the reala shot a lot less colorful?
