About
A Gunnera plant is a HUGELY leafed plant. The leaves are sometimes as much as six feet across, slightly domed and roughly round with jagged edges, and locals here on the western Canadian coast call them Elephant Ears. They are tough, scratchy, almost plastic-looking leaves that have this kind of texture, looking like suburban housing developments, highways or creeks and rivers viewed from an airplane. I always thought that they should be varnished or sealed and made into model train landscapes. Here is a closeup of one of the leaves from a plant in my friend Ken's yard.
Don't be discouraged by the lack of comments or views. Sometimes that just happens, and it has nothing to do with the quality of the photo. It happens to mee as well.
I like the larger shot of this. It's an amazing plant, and you've captured it from a unique perspective.
Thanx again, Peter. Your comments mean alot to me. I had a feeling that this shot was below par for this site because of the low viewing/no comment score it has garnered, but as you know, I like texture and detail, so I am happy with the shot. I do the best I can with my low-rez camera and appreciate your comments.
Here's a bigger shot of this huge gunnera plant. I had never seen anything like it before I moved up to coastal Canada seven years ago. They call them elephant ears up here.
