Another great shot, John. So simple yet so effective. The great thing about this kind of shot is that you never know what you're going to get and it's a real buzz when things work this well. Cheers, Ann.

It looks like the surface of the drop has taken on the texture of the card - nice on the eye!

Oh John, how fortunate you are to have a wife who understands and supports your hobby! The violet is very faint, which is why I thought it might be toning... perhaps it is no more than a weak reflection of a distant sky? I might have known that you would choose to display an unmodified colour image.

Hi Roger! Thanks for your comnment. I don't see the violet tinge myself. This is actually a colour shot that I didn't modify at all. I took a few of these and this was my favourite. (Just to add some spice, I could add that the silver card is from a packet of Renata's stockings - whenever she finds things like this, she always checks with me before she throws them away...)

How interesting that instead of looking as if we are seeing a rough surface through a clear drop of water, the water itself looks as if its surface is rough! Your depth of focus seems just right for this. The faint tinge of violet on the LH side of the water drop makes me wonder whether this is a colour shot, perhaps partially desaturated, or a monochrome shot, perhaps duotoned... As with so many of your images, John, quite fascinating.

It does indeed look like liquid silver, like the way it is placed in the composition
