About I walked by my wife's sewing box and saw this sitting on top. Handheld; I should have used a tripod.

Sascha -- Thanks for the nice comments. It is fun to find little worlds hidden in things like pin cushions.
Have a Happy & Peaceful Easter holiday.

I like this shot. It is so simple. I mean you might see these pins everyday and don't even think about taking such a shot like you have done. Superb seen a great presented. Excellently done.
Nice easter festival, Sascha

OK; I put down you for a miniature golf vote. That seems to win the contest so far. Alien's invading earth is not doing so well.

nice shot and at 1/60, a tripod isn't imperative, but it could have been sharper indeed considering the apperture u used.

Bek -- Thanks so much and your description and vision for this is fantastic. I had not thought of your suggested possibility until you mentioned it but I surely can see how the vision is conjured. Gum drops!! Candy!!!
Glad you were faking it but your story that you posted elsewhere would have justified it. Good luck on the renovations!

Pfft! Mini-golf and UFO's...nope, not for me.
For me, straight away, I had visions of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, c'mon..you know when they go to Willy Wonka's and the robust German kid decides to eat all and sundry and then ends up in the chocolate river?
This has a definite Willy Wonka backyard feel for me.
The lack of tri-pod adds to this vision for me, along with the red, green and yellow "gum-drops".
LOL, yes, each to their own indeed. My opinion is not at all related to me wasted Sunday hangover, not at all. I was faking it!!
cheers Jan, and well seen.

Thanks, Mel. (Groan on the song!).
Did your daughter think it looked like a golf course or an alien attack scene? :)

Coarse golf? hehe

My daughter just walked past and said "Whats that?" When I told her it was a pin cushion she stood and looked for awhile, then said "Very cool"
Thinking that the old village people song could be appropriate here....macro macro man......

Wonderful creative composition with inexplicably brilliant tones. Nothing much to say with this particular art work dear Jan. Very original, very interesting.

Thanks, Randee. Add another vote for "golf course". That seems to be beating aliens and gumballs by quite a margin. :)

Txules -- Thanks for your comment; you are absolutely correct in my mind. The location of where the ideal focus point is and the too shallow DOF detract from this picture.
Thanks for your honesty!

Thanks so much, Joe. Probably the only thing that saved the day was the G7's stablilzer. I took this while the pin cushion was in place and it was an awkward shot. I assumed it could have been better if the camera had been rock solid.

Well seen and shot Jan. Very interesting patterns and colours. Technically, it looks good to me, doesn't look like it suffered from not using a tripod.

Thanks so much, Paul. Little fleas playing golf, while chewing on gumballs are being attacked by aliens. All on the head of pins!

Thanks, Onie. I really appreciate your comments. I have recorded your vote for golf balls. There is a trend here: a little universe of golfing fleas chewing on gumballs being attacked by aliens. :)

Yes, you should have used the tripod Jan... ~~GRIN~~ but, I love the fact I do the same and I still love this anyway... This is really good... :)))

My imagination was hinting at golf balls and tee's... :)))

Excellent passing the pin cushion idea Sir...:)

Onie... and a favourite... ~~GRIN~~

Huh! I thought too that it had something to do with golf, at first... Amazing idea.

Thanks, Doyle. I need to go back as you say and reconsider the lighting. I would also have liked to have increased DOF a bit but the G7 did not really offer much range in that department. Might try this again next weekend with the digital SLR but I do not have any macro horsepower for that at the moment. I keep humming the song "Needles and Pins" (the Searcher's version, not the Tom Petty version) and it is driving me nuts. I am so glad I am not obsessive-compulsive!

Annemette -- Thanks so much. Michele thinks it looks like a miniature golf course and the picture reminds you of UFO's. Close-ups do offer us an alien landscape or at least a pleasant diversion from the "big world" around us.

Wonderful creativity as always my friend. Dude, it's not that bad handheld . . . . I think mute the light a bit and tripod it . . . perhaps it'll go from very cool to extremely cool!

Great idea- ( with the tripod:)))} I thought it was some kind of out of control Golf Game from the thumbnail ..ha.. but I can clearly see it now ! Clever idea tho Jan...
Would love to see this as a re-ost possibly with tripod, and soft light- could be amazing :) More like miniature golf then and they do that at night too ..

Best Wishes,
Michele~
